Beijing Bird's Nest ART SPACE ( G level lobby of the National Stadium Bird's Nest Cultural Center
《MA+馬上》200cmX140cm 《MA+馬上》120cmX120cm Horses have played an irreplaceable and important role in the long river of human history. Throughout history, both at home and abroad, people have always had a special emotional attachment to horses. The elegant posture, agile movement, and graceful lines of a steed, as well as the positive symbolic significance of the horse's yearning for freedom, wild and unrestrained nature, and pursuit of dreams, make artists from different cultural backgrounds and schools of thought enthusiastic about expressing respect and love for the horse through works of various forms. Previous generations gave different names to horse crowns based on their size. In their youth, they were called horses, with a size of six feet being called pride, seven feet being called chi, eight feet being called chi, and horses over eight feet being called dragons. Therefore, there is a saying of "dragon and horse". In Greek mythology, there is a mysterious image of Pegasus, also known as the celestial horse. Legend has it that it can fly and leave a rainbow wherever it passes, serving as a source of courage and inspiration. Pegasus, along with the dragon and horse, symbolizes creativity and the miracle of illusion. The theme of this exhibition is "Pegasus Pegasus", presenting the diverse creative paths and imaginative works of artist Wang Yatong around "horses" to the audience. In Wang Yatong's works, the element of "horse" has always been explored as the main thread. With the acceleration of modern people's work and life pace, the psychological pressure they face is also increasing day by day. The image of "horse" has gradually become a medium and refuge for conveying a certain spirit and emotion. Wang Yatong emphasizes the artist's personal emotions and experiences, as well as their attention to social phenomena and cultural issues, through the use of "horse" image elements. The strong colors, exaggerated forms, and abstract lines in his works are not imitations of objective things, but creations of spiritual will. The "horse" in her works not only possesses extraordinary spiritual energy, but also integrates worldly emotions and thoughts, reflecting a visual guided cosmic energy. This is a mysterious and indescribable existence that exists behind people and objects, colors and canvases, establishing new connections through works and perception of life. This exhibition will present Wang Yatong's new Ma+Horse series, which is full of passion and embodies the spirit of dragon and horse. The comprehensive material painting with relief effect expands and extends the spatial dimension of the picture, using "horses" as a medium to convey one's attitude towards emotions and intimate relationships. Its unique creative language also extends to sculpture works, using modern materials to interpret the atmosphere of the Han and Tang dynasties. It is like the "horse" sculpted during the Han and Tang dynasties, which has gone through the changes of the times and weathered the wind and rain. Its exterior has been eroded, revealing colorful bones and lines, as well as a constantly beating heart, presenting the inheritance and integration of history and modernity, and attracting the attention of viewers with its unique charm.
